Michelle Kasak has been appointed as the Missouri Department of Corrections' Emergency Preparedness/Workplace Violence Coordinator.

Kasak, who previously worked for Probation and Parole (P&P), is responsible for coordinating Department emergency preparedness. That includes emergency operations, disaster planning, worksite assistance and implementation of training programs and emergency drills. This position also serves as the liaison with the State Emergency Management Agency. Kasak's role is to ensure the preparation of all staff to respond to emergencies efficiently, effectively and quickly.

"I'm looking forward to working with the many facets of the emergency management field," Kasak told the Horizon. "It is encouraging to see how all the different agencies work together toward the common goal of emergency preparedness. The workplace violence program is also very important and could not be successful without devoted PACT (Peer Action Care Team) members."

Kasak is also responsible for oversight of the Employee Assistance Program referrals and critical incident stress debriefing. She was appointed to her position September 1, 2007.
