TRANSITIONAL HOUSING UNITS (THU)
Within 180 days of an offender’s release, he/she is moved to a Transitional Housing Unit. While in the Transitional Housing Unit the offender receives intense release preparation. Everyone in the Transitional Housing Unit, offenders and staff, are working toward the offender’s seamless transition home. Plans are made with external sources to ensure continuity of care upon release and to develop a coordinated effort among agencies who may be involved in one or more aspects of the offender’s plan. When it is time for the offender to be released, he/she leaves with the tools needed to be successful in their community.
